Customer Review: Works great
After years of being scorched by an aluminum laptop, I was using a giant pillow to keep the painful heat away from my lap as I used my computer. So this simple, minimally designed pad is one of the most useful accessories I own. The rubberized grip bottom keeps it stable, and grip top keeps your computer in place. The raised-and-vented X-shape corners allow heat to dissipate out of all four sides and your legs stay cool. The look is minimally different in shape and paint color from my Apple laptop, so its not ugly to look at either--though the plastic paint doesn't match exactly. But the difference in temperature is very noticeable, so I highly recommend this product.
Customer Review: Great product, only one minor issue
When I saw only one available at amazon.com, I ordered direct from the manufacturers web site xpad4laptop.com, got it 3 days later, even though I had to pay list; I needed to do something to run my laptop cooler. I'm using the XPad with an IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad T61 15 in. laptop that gets pretty warm with DVD running or lots of graphics intensive work. The laptop has a side exit vent for the fan, and doesn't get anywhere near as hot as my old ThinkPad, but still warm enough not good for it. I have been using it ontop of a ceramic cutting board, but that it heavier than I'd like, and the XPad is very very light weight, and exactly same dimensions as ThinkPad, and I can tell its running cooler. The XPad enhances the laptops own cooling system rather than interfering with it as some types of coolers with fans. The minor quibble: While I like the nonskid finish on the back of the XPad, it gives off a mildly unpleasant plastic/warm rubber/chemical odor. Maybe that will go away in time. I hope so; otherwise the product is great, as advertised.
